Church Calendar

“JESUS’ SERMON ON THE MOUNT
“BLESSED ARE THE POOR IN SPIRIT”
SECOND SUNDAY OF CHURCH LOYALTY MONTH / WELCOME BACK CHOIR!
NEXT SUNDAY

NEXT SUNDAY, OCTOBER 9TH, DR. JOHN WILL BEGIN A SERIES OF MESSAGES FROM JESUS’ SERMON ON THE MOUNT. THE FIRST OF THESE MESSAGES WILL BE ON THE “BEATITUDES.” THE BEATITUDES ARE JUST LIKE THEY SOUND, THE ATTITUDES THAT SHOULD BE IN OUR LIVES. SINCE THESE ARE THE FIRST WORDS THAT JESUS CHOSE TO SHARE IN HIS PUBLIC MINISTRY, EVERY CHRISTIAN SHOULD NOT ONLY HEAR THEM, BUT HAVE A BURNING DESIRE TO FOLLOW THEM.
INVITE A FRIEND TO WORSHIP WITH US NEXT WEEK, AS WE BEGIN TO LOOK AT WHAT IS CALLED, “THE KEYS TO THE KINGDOM OF GOD.”

DOUBLE DAY PINS

Our Double Day Pins were given our last Sunday. You are asked to wear your pin every day during October. When someone asks, “WHAT IS DOUBLE DAY?” You respond, “IT’S A SPECIAL DAY AT OUR CHURCH ON OCTOBER 30TH. I WANT YOU TO BE MY DOUBLE AND COME AND WORSHIP WITH ME AND SIT NEXT TO ME.”

AIR CONDITIONING FUND

$23,905.00 has been received toward the cost ($30,582.00) of the new A/C System. All of our members and friends are encouraged to continue giving a sacrificial gift of $10 above your normal giving each week until our goal is obtained. God has given us a place to come and worship. Now is the time to maintain it and see what happens when all God’s people work together. Please mark your gifts “Air Condition.”

WELCOME BACK, CHOIR!

Next Sunday, October 9th, our Choir will be back in the sanctuary for the first time this season. We hope that all our members and friends will be present and welcome our Choir.

STAFF APPRECIATION MONTH

The month of October is designated as “Staff Appreciation Month” here at First Christian Church. Most of you do not know, but the staff (Christine, Kathleen, Savi, Eric, Polly, Wyn, Joe, Dorothy, Valerie, Sadie, Kenny & Mark) has not received a raise for the past seven years. We all know how challenging that is in these tough economic times as the cost of living increases each year. I want to challenge each member and friend of this congregation to contribute at least $10 towards a love offering that shows our appreciation for the wonderful staff that we have. Our goal is $3,203.00. Some of you have been blessed and can give much more! Remember, a Pastor is only as effective in our Lord’s ministry as the staff that supports him. Let’s let our staff know how much we appreciate their mostly behind the scene steadfast labor for our Lord. You may make your donation by placing it in an envelope and marking it “Staff.” Thank you and God bless you all!
Dr. John
